Target Group:

The Wind Turbine Technician Academy requires experience in electrical and/or mechanical field of work. This criterion is typically
satisfied through verifiable paid work experience in a field where the use of tools and mechanical and/or electrical equipment is
required. Experience as an intern, participation in an educational program, apprenticeship and other significant experiential work will be
considered when clear and specific examples of relevant work performed is fully described.

Learning Objectives:

Trainee success requires a self-directed learning style, a desire to learn through hands-on practice, and a dedication to become a world-class technician in the wind industry.

Application Process Overview:

Applications are accepted all year. Staff will begin the application review with 3 days of receipt. There are 6 steps:

1- Review fundamental eligibility
2- Contact reference to verify mechanical/electrical experience and aptitude
3- Successfully complete the math skill assessment
4- Personal interview
5- Submit a Physical Examination report your doctor
6- Successfully complete the Climb. Test

The process is competitive, only 12 seats are available each session. Candidates are offered seats as soon as they are determined to
be eligible. In order to reserve your seat, we require a $500 deposit. Final payment of the entire registration fee is due no later than
2 weeks before the start of the course. (Please review the payment policy carefully.)

Program Eligibility For Wind Turbine Technician Training

Kalamazoo Valley Community College created the Wind Turbine Technician Academy to meet workforce challenges of the wind industry and support students interested in launching careers as wind turbine technicians. The program meets the expectations of our students and their employer through our staff's close attention to the details, including:
Skills and competencies required by employers are constantly monitored and incorporated so that graduates have the skills needed to hit the ground running.
Incorporating trends related to employability factors into the program application process.
To be eligible for admission to the course candidates must demonstrate they have the pre-requisite traits needed for success in the course and in gaining employment.

Prerequisites For Wind Turbine Technician Training

Instructors will provide complete instruction in the technologies used in a modern wind turbine. Students must bring these fundamental skills with them to the course:
