IIKM and NorSea jointly own Energy Innovation and strengthen Energy Innovation's role as a national centre of excellence for wind technician training and certification.

Energy Innovation offers a number of specific courses and educations that are necessary to handle tomorrow’s energy technology, particularly in on- and offshore wind energy. We initiate and coordinate R&D projects locally, nationally and internationally.

In 2023 we will launch a global franchise for GWO certification; the global industry standard for HSE and technical disciplines within onshore and offshore wind. In addition, we offer wind technician education of various types and lengths. The first center will be certified in New York already in Q1/Q2 – 2023, while another center will be certified in New Orleans in Q4 – 2023, in close cooperation with partners in US. Several similar initiatives have been launched in both Europe and Asia.

Energy Innovation is a centre for training, certification, education, development and innovation in the field of on- and offshore wind, green technology development and digitalisation.

Designed specifically for the needs of the wind energy industry the centre offers combined onshore and offshore facilities with a variety of modalities in a single location.


OWNERSHIP

The IKM Group and the NorSea Group, which is wholly owned by Wilhelmsen, have acquired 95 % of the shares in Energy Innovation in Egersund, with CEO and managing partner Frank Emil Moen retaining 5 %. The aim is to strengthen the company's position in offshore wind energy by building up expertise and market position.

About Energy Innovation: Energy Innovation has established Egersund Energy Hub, an industry and innovation cluster for training, certification, education, research, development and innovation within on- and offshore wind in particular, and renewable energy and environmental technology in general. Center of Excellence
EGERSUND – NORWAY – GLOBAL

Egersund Energy Hub is being established to be able to handle complex competence needs in an onshore and offshore wind industry which is developing rapidly both in terms of scope and technology. Through the co-location of training centres, school academic offerings and actors who work with the operation and maintenance of wind power plants in the region, and through close cooperation with universities and the R&D environment, we want to create the best competence environment in on- and offshore wind power in Norway. In addition to an already large range of training modules, we offer facilities and expertise that will contribute to developing new content and new innovative training methods.

We provide certification for GWO (Global Wind Organisation), including all HSE modules – both basic and advanced, as well as GWO Blade repair and GWO Basic Technical Training. We have also developed and provide a comprehensive program for education of wind technician for on- and offshore wind. The vocational education of energy operators for wind and hydropower at Dalane Vocational College is located together with us, and in 2022 the Polytechnical College of Rogaland County established activity in the center, developing higher vocational education in collaboration with Energy Innovation.
